In the s-PAW-tlight:
All of us at Paradise want to say a huge “thank you” to all of our customers and their pets that helped us celebrate our 20th anniversary over this past Memorial Day Weekend! We had a very successful four-day event showcasing our new “Paws Here Coffee Shop”, new deluxe boarding packages, our Paradise Pet Lodge wine and our all natural homemade treats. Valentino, the black Lab, especially loved his Paradise made, natural, apple-wood smoked bone. He was so tired from the busy schedule of weekend events that he only made it half way through his bone before falling asleep. We know the two Bassett Hound puppies enjoyed their stay by how reluctant they were to leave us and their parents had fun at our customer appreciation BBQ. Congratulations to our customers who won gift cards, boarding packages and gift baskets from our prize drawing! We also want to thank all of the staff for their very hard work during a very busy weekend!
During our anniversary event, we introduced and opened our new coffee cart featuring Zoka Coffee. The “Paws Here Coffee Shop” had great reviews from our customers and we are very excited and waiting patiently, for the “shop” location to be completed next to our office. We thought in the meantime we would take the opportunity to introduce the coffee that our baristas will be serving.
Zoka Coffee is one of the area’s premier coffee roasters. A Seattle-based company, Zoka travels to some of the world’s best coffee-growing regions to hand select their coffee beans. Along with providing quality food and drink, our focus is on creating a perfect cup of coffee. The process begins by selecting the appropriate grind for the beans, packing the grinds evenly and precisely into the porta-filter, and watching the shots pour to their golden coffee color. Combining the creativity it takes to be a barista with the love and dedication for pets and their families makes our “Paws Here Coffee Shop” one of a kind. Once we are up and running, come on in for a delicious latte’ or gourmet pastry for yourself and a tasty treat or smoothie for your pet.

WHAT'S NEW WITH US!
Deluxe Boarding Packages
Along with our coffee cart, we are also ready to introduce our new deluxe boarding packages! Our employees worked hard at brainstorming and have come up with some wonderful new ideas. Thank you to all of our customers who helped influence some of our package activities and features!
Our exclusive, deluxe boarding packages provide the utmost pampering for your pet at great savings to our customers. Our packages are designed to be added in addition to some of the five-star boarding services we already offer. A regular enclosure or a suite may be paired with any package to make your pets’ stay a delightfully luxurious one.

One of our first customers to be pampered with a boarding package was Abby, a 10 year old, brindle Boxer. Abby has been staying with us for almost her entire life. She is a very pampered and spoiled four-legged “only child”. Our deluxe boarding package, “Active and on the Go” is perfect for her! Our staff members commented, “every time we looked out the window, Abby was going out for play time, a walk, or a trip to the ‘coffee shop’ for a smoothie. She was definitely active and always on the go!” Abby looks forward to her spa sessions too, always getting at least one massage during her vacation. Abby’s mom loves the new boarding packages because it gives Abby a chance to do “one of everything, I think the massage is her favorite”.
Our Active and on the Go package is intended to utilize your pet’s enthusiastic energy. Included are a morning potty break and a stop at the “Paws Here Coffee Shop” for a good morning smoothie plus, a 30 minute individual play session mid-morning followed by an Everlasting Treat Ball or a treat filled Kong. There is also a one-hour supervised group play time with other boarders in the afternoon and a 15 minute relaxing nature walk to help wind down the evening. Before bed, your pet will be offered a natural, homemade treat.
You can sign up for any of our new boarding packages: Active and on the Go, Snack & Snuggle, Swim & Spoil, Tranquility or Spaaaw Overnighter, when you schedule your pet’s reservation, or at the time of check in. Also, ask about our deluxe cat boarding packages: Catnip Connection or Purr-fection! |

New Faces
Paradise is happy to welcome a few new employees to our team!
Sadie: Sadie came to us last summer as a part time employee, splitting her time with Homeward Pet Adoption Center, a local non-profit, no-kill animal shelter in Woodinville. At the end of March, she joined us full time. Her experience at Homeward, as well as another boarding facility, has made her a valuable employee and team player. She spends most of her shifts working in our small breed building, helping care for dozens of our smaller four-legged friends. We are very excited to have her as part of our full-time staff!
Natalie: Natalie is our newest kennel staff member who shares her time with Canyon Park Veterinary Hospital. Her natural ability to get along with animals has made her perfect for our ever-growing staff. She is well educated in pet handling and some pet first-aid as well, making her an asset to our team. We are delighted to have her at Paradise!
Courtney: We want to welcome Courtney to our bathing staff. She is currently enrolled at Washington State University and will spend her summer with us! She previously worked at a veterinary hospital and when given the opportunity to work here, she dove right in! Her quiet personality and attention to detail make her an excellent addition to our grooming salon.
We also have several new exercise staff members that we want to give a warm welcome to! Josh and Stephanie currently attend high school and take a break from afternoon homework to walk dogs. Lia is taking classes at Cornish College of the Arts and spends some of her free time doing agility trials with her Boykin Spaniel. Lindsey is back from Washington State University for the summer and is returning to work as an exerciser and a kennel staff member.
Cookie Cooks
After our most recent managers retreat weekend in Lake Chelan, some of our employees came back to Paradise with homemade, organic, good-for-you cookies for our boarders to try. The bowls have been sitting on our office countertops and judging by how quickly we need to replenish our stock, we’d say they are a hit! All of our dog cookies are made with human grade, quality, natural ingredients that make them truly delicious, even good enough for pet owners to eat, and a brave few have sampled them.
Jenny H. has also been hard at work creating fresh, organic kitty cookies! Her afternoons free from the cattery have been spent in the kitchen coming up with and creating cat-tastic goodies for our furry and sometimes finicky boarders. Using ingredients like tuna, catnip and organic wheat flour combined with lots of love and shaped like a heart, they really have our boarders going crazy for Aunt Jenny’s cookies! Jenny’s own kitty, Mac, served as the perfect taste tester, begging for little morsels of tuna as Jenny stirred the ingredients together. Our own kennel kitty, Bella, loved Aunt Jenny’s cookies, even indulging in a few after a recent surgery. Samples of our kitty cookies are available in the cattery, while they last! To maintain freshness, Aunt Jenny’s cookies are best kept in the fridge.

In Loving Memory
With tear-filled eyes and sorrow-filled hearts we are saddened to share that we recently lost a very precious companion, our beloved Alexis.
Alexis the Rottweiler came to us through a customer’s financial misfortune and has been living with us for the past 3 1/2 years as a Paradise mascot, watchdog, snuggle buddy and walking partner. Her calm demeanor and loving eyes captivated the hearts of all of our employees. Not a day went by without her taking a stroll up to the office for a pig ear, a trip to the laundry room to help fold towels, a nap in the warm spa, or a walk in the pasture to enjoy the grass between her toes. She never missed an opportunity to watch the bullfrogs jump into the pond and she almost caught a few of them; she was perfectly content to sit in “her” pasture for hours.
Throughout her years with us she was given many nicknames, fondly responding to the calls of “Lexi-Loo”, “Lexis” and “Baby Girl”. As she struggled and fought a losing battle against cancer, we peacefully said our good-byes to Alexis at the end of April. Our Baby Girl will forever be in our hearts and is very dearly missed by all who got the chance to know and love her. |
